If you have been an innocent victim of violent crime, you may be entitled to make a criminal compensation claim through the criminal injuries compensation authority. (CICA). To make a criminal injury compensation claim under the criminal injury scheme you can do directly with CICA and do not need to involve a personal injury solicitor. However if you do involve a specialist criminal compensation solicitor rather than completing the forms yourself on the www.cica.gov.uk website, you stand a greater chance of success as our solicitors have handled many criminal injury claims.
To make a claim with the criminal compensation agency you must have been the victim of a serious attack in England, Scotland or Wales, have not have provoked the incident and the attack must have given you physical
or mental injury within the last two years. You must also have medical documentation (from Hospital, A&E, or doctor) that you sought attention for your injuries. The incident must have also been reported to the police within 2 days.
